Sourdough Basics Demo with Melissa's Kitchen- Oct 21
In this 2-hour demonstration class, we’ll demystify the sourdough bread-making process and give you the knowledge and confidence to start baking sourdough bread at home.
We’ll walk through the process from starter to finished loaf, including how to care for your sourdough starter, mix and develop your dough, and properly shape, score, and bake a rustic loaf.Â
Throughout the class, you’ll enjoy freshly baked sourdough bread served with Prairie Food Co-op spreads and butter, along with freshly baked sourdough discard chocolate chip cookies.
You’ll learn how to:
• Maintain and care for a healthy sourdough starter
• Mix a basic sourdough bread dough from scratch
• Properly shape, score, and bake a rustic loaf
• Use your sourdough discard in delicious recipes
You’ll take home:
• Your own active sourdough starter
• Detailed recipes and tips for maintaining your starter and using discard
• Recommendations for helpful online resources and sourdough cookbooks
Whether you’re brand new to sourdough or have a starter at home but aren’t quite sure what to do with it, this class will help make the process feel approachable and manageable.
